At Excel Spring & Stamping, our custom four slide capabilities allow us to economically manufacture small, high-volume stamped or wire form parts. For this project, we produced a custom ring for the air distribution industry using our Torin #3 four slide machine. The ring is made of .0915″ galvanized hard drawn spring steel (HDMB) wire, and measured 3.00″ in length, 2.760″ in width, and 0.725″ in height. It also featured dimensional tolerances of ±.015″ and ±2°. The chemistry and tensile strength of the wire was tested in accordance with ASTM A764 – Standard Specification for Metallic Coated Carbon Steel Wire, Coated at Size and Drawn to Size for Mechanical Springs.
After forming, the rings were placed in special packaging to prevent tangling. We produced 15,000 of these rings for our customer in Minnesota. Our quality and customer service has given us the opportunity to provide stamping and wire forming manufacturing to customers throughout the US.
